kindergarten admissions | transfer admissions | tuition and fees

Parents who decide that a WFHA education will benefit their child should submit a completed application for admissions with the $100 non-refundable application fee.

Tuition contracts are sent with the acceptance letters. Parents must return the contract and a non-refundable deposit of $1,000, applicable towards tuition ten days after acceptance to reserve a space. Tuition payment must be made by May 1, after which time a late fee will be assessed.

Note: Parents who wish to be considered for financial aid must complete the financial aid applications. All requests will be handled confidentially. We have found that the application process outlined above serves both the school and the family well. WFHA believes firmly that parents and school must work together in our effort to guide children to become confident, competent, compassionate life-long learners. We look forward to working with you and appreciate your interest in WFHA.

Kindergarten Admissions: back to top
At our school, we believe that differentiation begins the day we meet your child. Parents interested in getting to know WFHA should schedule an appointment for a tour with our Director of Admissions, Joanne Karow, 203-863-9663 X503 or e-mail at joanne.karow@wfha.org

Once a complete application is received, our early childhood team will get to know your child through three different venues. During the first meeting, one of our trained early childhood educators will conduct a Gesell test; a developmentally appropriate and child friendly instrument. During our second meeting, the child will have an opportunity to meet other prospective kindergartners and participate in a guided play session. Finally, a member of our early childhood team will visit the child in their own school environment.

The information we gather through this process, in addition to school reports and parental input gives us a full picture of the potential students. This gives us the opportunity to prepare for the child’s successful kindergarten experience.

Transfer Admissions:back to top
We welcome transfer students at any juncture of their educational career. In order to ensure that WFHA is the best fit for a potential student, we spend time getting to know the child and his family.

If the child attended another school, we request parental permission to send a release of information to the student’s current school. Transcripts and/or school progress reports are required for prospective transfer students. In addition, we require the potential student to spend a day visiting our school. During that visit, we conduct informal educational evaluations in both general and Judaic studies.
