Enrichment

At WFHA, we know that learning is more than what takes place within the four walls of a classroom which is why our students are encouraged to pursue a wide variety of enrichment and extracurricular activities offered at the school.

E2K

Excellence 2000 - known as E2K - is an innovative enrichment program developed as a method to teach math and science to gifted students. Open to qualified fifth through eighth graders, E2K was established at the Society for Excellence in Education, which also oversees the esteemed Israeli Arts and Science Academy. Science teacher Rhonda Ginsberg, who attended the program's intensive math and science training course in Israel, heads E2K at WFHA and guides the students to use logic, analysis, creativity and team work to approach science and math problems.

Chidon HaTanach

For students looking to advance their Judaic studies, WFHA has an after-school club in Tanach for students in fifth through eighth grades. The club, headed by fourth grade Judaic Studies teacher Carol Sober, prepares students for WFHA's participation in the Chidon HaTanach. The Chidon, overseen by the Jewish Agency for Israel, is a Bible contest created by David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister. The Chidon is now an international event - with young people throughout the world learning to nurture a love of Tanach, positive identification with Israel and mastery in Bible content.

Student Newspaper

WFHA's young writers receive hands-on journalism experience as writers for the student newspaper. Student reporters document all aspects of the school year, writing about field trips, team sports, campus happenings, and tackling more serious topics such as a visit to the school by Holocaust survivors.

Math Olympiad

Our advanced math students participate in the exciting Math Olympiad, a monthly contest that enables our students to compete against their peers from around the world. The program fosters an enthusiasm and love for mathematics, and teaches important mathematic concepts and strategies for problem solving.

Student Government

Student Government teaches important lessons in leadership, cooperation and the inner workings of a democratic governing body. Made up of representatives from each of the middle school grades, the student government, which includes five officers, meets weekly throughout the school year. Just a few of the group's long list of accomplishments include starting a Middle School breakfast program, designing and decorating the new Middle School student lounge, organizing monthly school-wide spirit days and chesed (kindness) projects, and spearheading the Purim Carnival.
