WFHA Students Raise Money for JFS of Greenwich

The entire WFHA student body rallied together to help raise money for the third annual Children's Coin Harvest, organized by Jewish Family Services of Greenwich.

The non-profit organization asks local youths to gather spare coins from their homes and those of their relatives and close friends. The money raised helps support JFS services.

"Were it not for the children, we could not have had the success that we did," said Amy Zabin, a co-chair of the Children's Coin Harvest. "This year, the JFS Children's Coin Harvest raised $2,571 to support the many programs and services that benefit the Greenwich community."

At WFHA, students from each class spent several weeks collecting money in individual Coin Harvest bags. On the day before Thanksgiving, JFS visited the school with a special van to "reap the harvest," and give each of the children a community service certificate.

"WFHA is not just a participant, but is the culmination of our coin harvest. Without this essential element of our community day school we simply couldn't do it," Zabin said. "This ‘harvest' shows children that they really can and do make a difference in their community."
